The fundraising team for the Ballycotton RNLI are continuing a long tradition and hosting a fundraising dinner at Ballymaloe House Hotel in Cork on Friday 31st January 2014. This year is particularly special as The Allen’s are celebrating 50 years of business at Ballymaloe House and it would not have happened at all if Mrs Myrtle Allen had not first met Ivan Allen at an RNLI dinner in Ballymaloe House Hotel, then owned by The Simpsons.

Rachel was delighted to be named Cork Person of the Month in December 2013.

The organisers of the competition pointed out that 2013 marked the 30th anniversary of Ballymaloe Cookery School. A spokesperson for the organisers said that "Ms Allen received the December Person of the Month award to mark her many successes in good food promotion and preparation, through her TV series, cookery books, journalism and teaching."

Ballymaloe Hotel and Restaurant was named amongst the best restaurants in the world 2013 by Nicholas Lander writing in the Financial Times on Saturday, November 30.

A huge congratulations to all the staff at Ballymaloe for this amazing endorsement from such a respected journalist and publication.

A civic reception will be held in Cork City Hall on December the 4th at 6PM to honour Mrytle Allen and her contribution to the Irish food industry.

Watch out for Rachel's new TV series "Rachel Allen's Everyday Kitchen" which will show on RTÉ One at 8.30PM every Wednesday starting tonight.

Each episode of the 13-part series will showcase a mix of three sweet and savoury recipes, and will be packed full of affordable, yet tasty hints and tips. All of the dishes will loosely work together, either linked by a key ingredient, or built around a specific event such as a family gathering.
